In early 1997 two friends bonded together with an idea and a dream. The idea was to establish a traditional Celtic Pipe Band. The dream was for this to bring pride to the local band of punjab and the surrounding areas. Today the band has grown to over 56 members; the majority of pipers and drummers are made up of trained young lads from Punjab Rajasthan, West Bengal, Haryana. The band’s origins can be traced back to 1997. Gurpreet Singh, now a team leader, and raman preet Singh Sr., a retired member of the army bagpiper band decided to start bagpiper band, was lacking the dignity of having it’s own pipe band. Soon, Gurpreet found himself addressing a meeting of Society. He pitched the idea and requested anyone who was interested to raise his or her hands. In the end he walked out with 9 members of the newly formed Kings bagpiper Pipes and Drums Band.
Lovepreet Singh and Guri recruited two established instructors for the group. Gurpreet and raman Preet, both members of the Society Pipes and Drums were a perfect fit. Every week they would travel to the Companies in Jaipur and tutor the fledging band. The members would then assemble themselves later in the week and practice.
In December of 1997, only 8 months after they were formed, the pipers and drummers received their instruments. They vowed to be ready to do bagpiper band drum performance march for Nagar Kirtan SHobha Yatra Sikh Samaj . Experts advised the band not to get their hopes up, two years was a more realistic time frame. Despite the prediction, March 1998 saw the bagpiper band drum performance march for band debut at the Jaipur Republic Day parade and history was made. The band hasn’t missed their debut host’s event since.
In the years since, the band has grown to over 56 members. Made up of Police several civilians, they boast a roster of members from various states and cities. Their dedication and professionalism has been displayed in a variety of venues.
Each year they perform for Recruits at their graduation ceremonies in state and in the PinkCity Jaipur. The band has performed for army personnel at the New Delhi Exposition Center. They have been seen in publications such as well.
Following the events on, the Kings bagpiper Pipes and Drums Band was established. Army military fauji Police Pipes and Drums were there. Playing with members of pipe bands from throughout New Delhi, representatives of the band attended various celebrations weddings and events, who were presented on that day. They also traveled to New Delhi to bagpiper band drums performance play for 26th January Republic Day Celebration.
